The mission of NASRSP is to operatively intervene for the protection of the population, the economy and the defense of the country, in exceptional situations caused by natural disasters, epidemics, industrial or nuclear accidents, social or economic phenomena, external circumstances and case of war.

The main actions carried out by the National NASRSP:

• accumulation of products for the establishment of state reserves stocks financed from the state budget;
• state reserve stocks refreshment;
• emergency stocks accumulation, including with financing from external loans and short-term stocks, with the approval of the government;
• short-term loans granting and permanent exits from state reserves, with the approval of the Prime Minister;
• internal or external free humanitarian aid, granting and based on Romanian Government approval;
• long-term storage of state reserves in full quantitative and qualitative security conditions;
• availability disposure of state reserve products capitalization if requested;
• import-export trade operations.
